Sub-district Samnak Teao
The area of Samnak Teao was originally a Chinese community. They were mostly
merchants and vegetable farmers. These local Chinese merchants called themselves the Teao people.
Later, when it became a larger community, the leader named the place Samnak Teao and this has been
the name ever since.
Samnak Teao Sub-district is situated next to Kaeda Province of Malaysia. Most of the
area is flat, forested land with a few mountains. There is also a river flowing through the area. Samnak
Teao is divided into 10 sub-divisions.

- To the north is Prik Sub-district of Sadao District, Songkhla Province
- To the south is Kaeda Province of Malaysia
- To the east is the national reserve of Khao Nam Kang, Nathawee District, Songkhla
