Role of the Phee
                   1.  The flute is one of the main musical instruments for the shadow puppet show.
                   2.  This  instrument controls  the  action  of the performers,  for example  the  walk,  sorrow and
        movement of the body as well. The song of this play is "Dem ru-see" song, the song used for praising Shiva.
                   3.  The flute can render exciting feelings  and  becomes the centre of attention for the audience
        watching the shadow puppet show.




















                   6. Sor Ou
                   "Sor Au", is one of the fiddle instruments but it's different from the tremble fiddle. The sound is
        more bass than the alto fiddle but has more resonance.
                   General Features of the tremble fiddle, a skull  is made of the coconut shell, then cut across and
        covered with a cow's hide or goat hide. The bow of the fiddle is  made of wood or with the tusk of with an
        elephant and divided  into 2 parts the upper part and lower part. The string of the  fiddle's  bow is  made of
        special  silk or some animal  intestines and  tied  to  both ends. A small pillow  is  placed between the  body of
        tremble fiddle and the string of the fiddle. This part makes the resonant sound. The bow is called "Yong" and
        is  usually  made of hardwood. The strings of the  bow are usually  made of the 250 hair of horse tail.  These
        strings produce 5 different tones.
                   Role of the Sor Ou
                   1.  To enhance the music of the shadow play to be more melodic
                   2.  To enhance the rhymes in the story such as the Mong, the lady walking in the forest, and the
        starting verse.
                   3.  It enhances the scenes such as travelling or wailing in pain.
