Songs used in the Shadow Puppet Show
The music used during the shadow puppet show changes depending on the role portrayed and
the story. The music at the start of the play is usually "Homerong" or prelude song. The "Padcha" song used
to start the play in the past. But now other songs are used such as "Hom Rong Yieam Wiarn" or "Thong Om"
all along the story. Then the musical instruments will play when the song ends, it is called "Prakorm" story.
The main purpose of performing the "Prokorm" story is to invite every one to pay attention and
tell then that it is time for the show to start. The tempo played usually brings on the emotions or a lighter
entertaining mood such as "Lao sing Tean" song.

Music Practice for the shadow puppet show to follow the role performed and the dialogue
For the puppeteer to practice the show along with the role being interpreted is very important
because he has to follow along care fully with the musical instruments and the movements of the puppets
while performing for the audience from the beginning all the way to the end of the show.

1. The Prelude Chapter piece
Prelude means to start the show in using a special song before the show actually starts. The
prelude of the show gives notice or informs the people in the audience that the play is going to start soon.
