Culture and Tradition: Singha Nakorn District worked together with the local government
organization of Singha Nakorn Municipality and District organization Office made up of 9 sub-districts,
to encourage and preserve the traditions and heritage, such as the New Year, Loy Kratong, Merit Day
Festival, Gratitude Day, and the interesting tradition of the marriage with a tree. It is a belief of the
Mamuang local people in Moo 4 Sating Moh Sub-district that they must have their oldest son marry
a holy tree. The groom must be 21 years old, and with in 3 days after the ceremony he will have to go into
monkhood and after that he will be able to get married with a girl without it being against the tradition.

This wedding ceremony with the tree must be held between the 6 and 8 month of the year, it must be
held on either a Saturday or Tuesday starting at around 8AM following the procedure of a typical
traditional wedding. The local performing arts also include the shadow uppet show and Manora;
these are unique features of Singha Nakorn. There a many different musical instruments and various
dance steps. The famous shadow plays include Chin A t akosit Show, or Chin Tummakoa Show.
They have received the National Artist Award in 1989.
