Thai Traditional Instrument Course

                                                   (Sob Duang)
                                          Muang-ngam Sub-district



             Importance
                      The Soh Duang is a Thai instrument in the group of the fiddles. The Sor-Au is the leader
             of  the tune  and is  an  important  instrument in the  group  of stringed  instruments. It  is also  called

             Sor-Duang because its head is similar to an animal trap called Duang.


             Aims

                      1. To give the youth understanding and ability to play the Soh Duang.
                      2. To help the youth employ the knowledge in their life.
                      3. To preserve and pass on traditional Thai music.


             Objectives

                      1. To help the youth use their free time beneficially.
                      2. To give the youth understanding and skill in playing the Soh Duang.

                      3. To promote the learning of Thai instruments.


             Course Contents
                      There are two subjects:

                      1. Features of the Soh Duang
                      2. Training in playing the Sob Duang


             Time

                      20 hours for this course
                      - Theory: 2 hours
                      - Practice: 18 hours


             Instructions

                      Application of knowledge about the Soh Duang
                      1. Teaching musical notes

                      2. Producing sounds with the Soh Duang
                      3. Playing music (Phama ram khwan)
                      4. Playing music (Lao joi)
