General Knowledge about Ranod District
General Knowledge
The background of Ranod District: it was a district located on the Sating Pra Peninsula and was
once part of Sating Pra (the old Patthalung city). During the reign of King Rama III Ranod was a colony of
Nakom Sri Tammarat and during the reign of King Rama IV it became again a colony of Songkhla. From
formally being a town, it was raised to the sub-district status and started the building of the first District
Administration Office along with the Police Station in the year 2466. Later in 2467 when it became a district
it was divided in 13 sub-districts
Between 2492-2493 the Ranod community worked together for two years to build the new
Ranod Administration Office under the leadership of Mr. Jarun Logakalin. This building was built without
the financial support of the government and became a location that the Ranod people are very proud of and
are still talking about it today.
In 2538 the government allocated a budget for the Ranod organization building because
the old building was too small to benefit or organize the activities of the community. The community brought
together 75 Rai of land to donate for the new Ranod organization located 1.5 kilometers from the former
office. The new office was built in 2540 but there was still nothing inside, so the community came together
again to donate money and property until it was finally finished and ready to serve the local people on
4 May 2551.
Both the new and old organization offices of Ranod were similarly built with the people's
participation even though the times were different. One thing stayed the same, the people kind heartedness
and kindred spirit.
