Course on Religious Ceremonies

Importance

Religious ceremonies take place in all religions but differ according to the different beliefs and
doctrines followed. Even though each religion differs in their individual doctrines and beliefs they all stick
together like the 'bark of the tree' working together and enable people to live with each other.

The Buddhist religious ceremonies of today have evolved to become the true form of the
religion. The rituals are not just a part of the religion that can be seen, they have deeper benefits, more then
the eye can see, including the following:
1. Motivation to stop wrong doings and help the people turn around and do good, so they can

have pure hearts.
2. Bring mental worth and joyous hearts
3. Passing on the cultural legacy, maintaining its original identity because religious rituals are
an integral part of being Thai. Original rituals should be studied carefully according to the Buddhist religion.

Objectives:
1. Procedures and happenings in religious ceremonies

2. To increase knowledge and ability in conducting religious ceremonies
3. Used as examples in ritual practices
4. Operating orderly ceremonies with proceedings causing the people to gain faith in the
beliefs

5. Conserve it as the model to continue to pass on the traditions and culture to the next
generations

Course

Containing the 2 following materials
1. The formality of auspicious ceremonies includes making merit on different occasions to
receive good fortune for yourself, your family and associates. These ceremonies can include giving offerings

to Buddhist Monks for better mental health. These offerings can be done at any celebrations, receiving
a blessing when something good bas happened in life such as getting a new house or getting married.
