….He and I have been together in so many ways since 1966. One of
the things Tada did for our family in Rochester Minn was to make breakfast
each Saturday morning for our family, and then we all went out to play
tennis. Usually we came back for a bowl of soup at lunch. A family ritual.
The other ritual was a Tada-cooked meal with 11 courses. Mama Frye was
the only one who could take the hottest dishes , I think.
One thing we must do is to write a story on Tada for the scientific
societies in the US where he was so well known. I know Bob Frye and Jim
Scheuer would help….
I keep thinking of the style and impact of those Reader’s
Digest articles called “The Most Unforgettable Character” but
I haven’t read the Reader’s Digest in the last 50 years so I
don’t know if the is still a common format. But Tada fits right
there. A truly wonderful figure with an unforgettable character
….I knew Tada had deep interests in these provinces and had bought
forest land to protect a part of it, and appreciated that he did lot for trying to
cool down the religious differences by helping the health care of the Muslim
groups, but I didn’t know he chaired this big effort. He was always so quiet
about the things he worked so hard on, and obvious was overly modest about
his contributions….
